We are a faith-based, community-focused nonprofit with a heart for creating a personalized pathway that leads individuals and families to dreams and hopes fulfilled. We address critical needs as we can through benevolence, which is right and biblical; however, our heart’s desire is to move people beyond charity by teaching them to take control of their life, instead of their life taking control of them. This learning gives them the hand up they need to flourish and equips them to recognize the way God created them. It grants dignity to the impoverished and respects the talents of the person, given by God for His purpose.

*NOTE – 6/26/20*

Due to potential coronavirus exposure, the LHC is currently closed. We plan to reopen our service on July 13.
Currently, there are no active cases among our staff; however, one of our regular staff members was in contact with someone who recently tested positive. Out of an abundance of caution and to safeguard our volunteers and clients, we have advised all our staff to be tested and to self-quarantine until July 9.
We apologize for any inconvenience to our clients.
If you are in need of food, call 211 or visit http://sc211.org to request alternate food pantry options.

We have relocated to a more permanent facility at 7220 Investment Drive in N. Charleston, with a new name: LOWCOUNTRY HOPE CENTER See map below for directions to the new facility:

Take Ashley Phosphate Rd. to Industry Dr. (left of the bowling lanes), follow around the curve until you reach Investment Dr. (on your right).

LHC OPERATING HOURS:
Monday – Friday: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Food Distribution (Bread Basket)
Monday – Friday: 9:45 am to 12:00 pm

Service is provided on a “first come, first served” basis. Please bring your ID, Bread Basket Card, and bags.

Starting the week of June 1st, we have available to the community boxes of fresh veggies and Borden milk (2% and whole). These products are available to anyone in our community.

This distribution is part of the government’s assistance to farmers and the community called C-FAP. (Coronavirus-Federal Assistance Program). We receive daily about 200 gallons of milk and 70-140 boxes of fresh produce. Limehouse Produce and the Gullah Farmer’s Cooperatives are providing the veggies. We serve in a “drive-through” fashion beginning at 9:45-12:00, Monday through Friday. Nothing special is required to receive these items. All are welcome to receive!

——————————

The Lowcountry Hope Center has recently received additional funding to assist with housing and utility payments. The funds are capped at $500 per household. The assistance must be for COVID-19 related events, such as job loss or reduced hours. A valid letter, email, or another document must be provided by the employer explaining how the virus caused a shutdown, reduced services, or production loss. Small business owners or self-employed individuals are required to provide an explanation describing limitations caused by the “Stay at Home” order or loss of clients. Additional documents may be required. Qualified families can call 843-486-1955 to start the application process.
