Dear Cathedral Family,
I believe there is and has been a grace and special anointing around our current series, The VOW. Of course, we know that God is on the offensive and ready to come to our aid when it comes to marriage and family.
Question: What’s one of the hardest things in marriage, or any relationship for that matter?
I’d put communication near the top of the list!
Why is it that conveying our thoughts and feelings and being understood seem to be so challenging? We love each other, we want the best for each other, we’re committed to making our relationship work. Yet, truth be told, there’s a lot more to communication than just the words that come out of our mouths.
Often our tone of voice, body language, facial expressions, attentiveness and more speak far louder than our actual words. Many times, our difficulties in hearing have deeper roots – past hurts, habits we learned in our families, wrong assumptions or lies we’ve believed.
I could give you lists of communication tools that would help you improve your relationship skills, and I’m happy to do that. But I sense that God wants more for us this Sunday as we continue our series, The Vow. Several times in the Scriptures we see Jesus saying, “Whoever who has ears to hear, let him hear!” In other words, “Pay attention. I really want you to get this!”
So, I’m believing for all of us – that we’ll have eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to understand. I’m asking you to agree with me and show up expectant this Sunday! Let’s get ALL God has for us!!!
I look forward to seeing you Sunday!
