Note from Mike – The Power of Your Story

September 21, 2017

THIS IS US

Over the past 30 years, we have seen the faithfulness of God bring so many people who were far from God to come to know Him as Father. We’ve watched Him work miracles and healing in the lives of so many people, and those lives have intersected and intertwined to form the fabric of the Cathedral family.

This is Us, a diverse group of people, led here and joined together by the Spirit of God. There are many different ways that people find out about Cathedral. Perhaps they see our sign on Ashley Phosphate or your posts on social media, or they check out our website. By far, the majority of people are invited and say “yes” because they have a relationship with you. It’s so important that we all keep intentional relationships on the front burner.

How’s your Top Ten? I am still working on mine, as well. We’ve been talking for several weeks now about keeping a list of the top ten people we’re believing God to give us an opportunity to invite to church, or maybe even share our story with them. That can be scary but sharing your story is the most powerful thing you can do. No one knows your story but you. No one tells your story like you. No one can argue with your story. And, here’s the best part, everyone likes to hear stories!

This Sunday, I’ll continue telling the story of Cathedral, and I’ll share some strategies for reaching those “top ten” people. The two go hand in hand, sharing stories and building the church.

I don’t think I will ever forget this shocking statistic and follow-up question: “53% of people will never step foot in a church. How are you going to reach them?

The church is built as you and I intentionally go after the people around us, and God “adds to the church daily, those who are being saved.” (Acts 2:47). God speaks to their hearts, but we are His storytellers.

I’ll see you Sunday!
