Getting Back on Course

August 14, 2020

Dear Cathedral Family,

You’re blessed when you stay on course,
walking steadily on the road revealed by God.
You’re blessed when you follow his directions,
doing your best to find him. Psalm 119:1-2 (MSG)

Isn’t it comforting to know that God delights to give us direction for our lives, especially in seasons where there seem to be more questions than answers? When I find myself in what feels like a swirl of confusion and chaos, I intentionally take a pause, regroup, and get back to the basics.

It’s easy during times of crisis to drift away from the things we know give us life, strength and encouragement; vital things like times of worship, prayer, reading the Bible and spending time with other believers. The Passion Translation phrases it this way:

“This is why it is so crucial that we be all the more engaged and attentive to the truths that we have heard so that we do not drift off course.” Hebrews 2:1

Now that we’re heading into the fall, we’re all trying to figure out how to establish new routines and rhythms. Could I just encourage you with some truth? You are not alone! I know the voice in your head may be screaming something completely opposite, but let the truth come in and settle your heart and mindYOU ARE NOT ALONE!

God not only delights to give you direction; God longs to be found by you, to be in relationship with you. “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:12-13

Perhaps you feel like you’ve drifted over the last few months of this pandemic. Maybe your sense of purpose isn’t as red hot as it was at the beginning of 2020. Your hope meter might be leaning more toward empty than full. You might feel a bit distant from God and isolated from your friends. I can promise you this – you are not alone.

But be encouraged! Getting back on course is most definitely possible!

And the tiniest shift could get you headed back in the right direction. I’m believing for shifting, breakthrough, and restoration in all of us during this next season as we continue pressing in and releasing the blessing in our homes and every area of influence. Just like we said back in March – we are in this TOGETHER!

I’m so looking forward to us worshipping together this Sunday. Pastor Charles Simpson will be with us, and I cannot wait to hear the word that God has for us. There’s something special and powerful about sitting under the ministry of someone who has such longevity in his relationship with God. He has ministered to me for many years, so I know that he will minister to you!

See you Sunday – in-person at 9am and 11am (still observing all our safety protocols) and online at 11am via Livestream or Facebook Live.

Be blessed in the name of our God!
