MIND BLOWN: When Life is Chaotic

November 6, 2020

Dear Cathedral Family,

Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be able to stand firm.
2 Chronicles 20:20

In a year like 2020 has been, in an election season like this, I think it’s safe to say that life feels anything but stable. What do you do when everything feels like it is swirling out of control, when life feels like a hurricane all around you? It’s time to stop and go back to what is truth and regain your footing on solid ground!

Here’s a great prayer for days like these – “God, be with us!” As Christ-followers, we’re continuing to PRAY FIRST as our primary strategy. And after we pray, we’re choosing to ACT – in love! We’ve prayed, we’ve voted, and now we’re continuing to pray about the future, armed with the awareness of Paul’s words to the church at Ephesus:

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
– Ephesians 6:10-12

We’ve felt the escalation in the struggle against our communities, families and life itself this year as evidenced by skyrocketing divorce and suicide rates. The stakes are higher than ever! That’s why we started our MIND BLOWN series – to equip us as a church with the strength and truth of a biblical worldview on which to build a firm foundation for our homes and families, which, in turn, has the capacity to strengthen our whole culture!

This Sunday, we’re focusing on the role of wives in the next part of our series, MIND BLOWN: Family Edition. Ladies, this message is especially for you! God has uniquely designed and called you to fulfill an incredible purpose on this planet. When you’re fully alive, your husband, your children, your family, and our culture thrives!

Whether you’re single, engaged, newly married or perhaps have been married for many years, there’s something in this series for you! If you missed any of the messages so far, you can watch or listen on our website or on the Cathedral app.

I realize that we’re facing a lot of unknowns. We don’t know what the remainder of this week (or month or year) holds or what the final outcome of the election will be, but we do know that God is still on the throne. His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23), and He stands ready to respond to our prayers of repentance and petition (2 Chronicles 7:14). Would you join me in continuing to pray for God’s kingdom to be established and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven?

Thank you for demonstrating to the world that we are Christ-followers by your extravagant love! Thank you for your continued generosity in giving of your time, talent and resources. Cathedral, we are making a difference!

I’m looking forward to seeing you this Sunday! We’ll be worshipping together in-person at 9am and 11am and via Facebook live and Livestream at 11am.

Praying for you,

Mike Lewis
