Dear Cathedral Family,
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
Ephesians 6:10-11 (NIV)
Many of you are in back-to-school mode right now. Cathedral Academy started our 2021-2022 school year on Thursday with over 360 students. We’re seeing the return of many who are now ready for in-person schooling and an influx of new families. It’s really exciting!
When God gave us the vision of starting a Christian school, I had no idea how much we’d need to learn about true biblical, Kingdom education. I’m so thankful for people like Dr. Glen Schultz who God brought into our journey to help us focus in the right direction. He’s the one who connected us with Dr. Pat Stuart, who is doing a phenomenal job as our Head of Schools.
As Pastor Dave Ammons emphasized last Sunday, as a church, we are linking arms and committed to encouraging and praying for all our families, teachers, administrators, education workers with increased fervor this year. The academic world, and much of our culture, has changed dramatically – a fact to which many of us are just waking up. Dorothy, from The Wizard of Oz, stated it so well: “I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore!”
With all the turmoil and conflicting viewpoints in our culture, it’s more vital than ever to have a strong foundation on which to build our homes and families. Deciding where we put our trust and how we view the world will determine how we navigate our current situation and set our trajectory for the future.
That’s why I’m starting a new series this Sunday – IN ________ WE TRUST. Our currency still says, “In God We Trust” – but do we? Where do you put your trust? When we choose God, we’ll have hope – no matter the circumstances.
I’m ready to jump in to the deep end this Sunday. Would you invite someone to join you – in-person at 9 & 11am OR online at 11am via Facebook, YouTube, or our streaming service?
I ask, too, that you join me in prayer to keep this series covered. Pray for me. Pray for our team. Pray for our teens and children and their leaders. Pray for everyone who will hear this message. We’re praying for a spirit of revelation and understanding, eyes to see, ears to heart, hearts to understand, and boldness to act.
Standing firmly in God’s truth,
Pastor Mike Lewis
