Are We There Yet?

April 16, 2021

Dear Cathedral Family,

As he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, his disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” Matthew 24:3 (NET)

Last Sunday, we launched our new END TIMES series! I’m so excited to see what God will reveal to us personally and as a church as we learn together over the next few weeks. Remember, this isn’t about gloom and doom or fear and anxiety; it’s about COMFORT and HOPE. It’s also about being reminded that God has a plan and we have the privilege of partnering with God in sharing the Good News of salvation with as many people as possible.

Throughout history, people just like us have had lots of questions about how this world will end and what it will look like when the God’s original design is restored. The Bible has a lot to say about the End Times. We refer to these parts of God’s Word as prophecy, which is basically God telling us the future in advanceI love that God wants us to understand what He’s up to!

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be exploring what Jesus said about the End Times in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke & John), what God revealed to prophets in the Old Testament (like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Joel, Amos, and Zechariah), and what God revealed to the disciple John, as recorded in the book of Revelation in the New Testament.

That’s why I want to encourage you to get a BibleThere’s nothing more life-giving than filling your mind and heart with the inspired Word of God.

  • If you prefer a digital format, try BibleGateway or a Bible app like YouVersion.
  • If you prefer a print version, be sure to pick a translation that is easy to understand. (I like the New Living Translation. Others prefer the New International Version or the New English Translation.)
  • If you’re new to the Bible, then consider a Teen Study Bible.
  • And, by all means, find some people to journey with you either in a small group or in our Growth Track.

Now, I can’t wait for you to hear the message Pastor Dave Ammons has for us this Sunday. We’ll be talking about the importance of the nation of Israel and how events in that tiny nation serve as a major signpost that we are nearing the End Times. If you missed last Sunday’s message, go ahead and take a few minutes to get caught up either on our website or our app.

I’m looking forward to worshipping God with you and learning together this Sunday, in-person at 9 & 11am OR online at 11am via Facebook, YouTube, or our streaming service.

Come expectant!
