Hello Cathedral Family,
Summer is almost here and that means graduations are happening on a grand scale. Our own Cathedral Academy graduation ceremony will be held this Friday at 7pm in the worship center, with The Honorable Tim Scott, our South Carolina Senator, giving the commencement address! I’m very excited about this incredible honor for our 2017 graduates and great opportunity for our Cathedral family.
Senator Scott has been a friend of the Cathedral family for over two decades; but more than that, he’s a loyal supporter of our community and a wonderful man of God who faithfully serves our country! I would love for you to join us in support of our Cathedral Academy graduates and Senator Scott.
This Sunday we will be honoring those who paid the ultimate sacrifice so that men like Senator Scott, a faithful Christian, could serve in our nation’s capitol. Our own Lieutenant Colonel Keith Brace (US Army Retired) will honor our fallen soldiers during a portion of the service dedicated to Memorial Day.
We will also continue our Kingdom series with a look at the second Beatitude (Matthew 5:4), “Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.” Just as there is an honorable way to mourn our fallen soldiers, there is an honorable way to mourn the losses in our own lives. Jesus himself promises to walk with us through our mourning in a way that blesses us with comfort.
Make plans to be here Friday night for Senator Tim Scott, and Sunday morning for Lieutenant Colonel Keith Brace, and family worship!
I’ll see you soon!
Mike Lewis
