Happy Father’s Day

June 19, 2020

Dear Cathedral Family,

The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. Psalm 103:13 (NLT)

This Sunday, we’re celebrating all our Dads. I’m looking forward to sharing a timely Father’s Day message with you in partnership with my eldest daughter, Pastor Megan Turner. What a delight it is for me, as a father, to know that Megan and Macie love and serve the Lord, have husbands who love and serve the Lord and that they are bringing up our grandchildren to do the same!

Parents, in case you were wondering – YES, God is faithful. And your prayers matter. Even if you’re not seeing the fruit of your prayers just yet, let me encourage you – Don’t Stop! Keep praying, keep believing, and keep asking God to move in the lives of your children.

Speaking of children, I want to celebrate our amazing C KIDS Dream Team for pulling off our very first virtual VBS this week!!! What a creative way to provide our families with a wonderful experience at home and teach children about choosing Faith Over Fear. I think we’d all agree that it was a perfect topic for this season. (If you missed any of the sessions, they are available on our new Cathedral Kids YouTube channel.) Thank you all for investing in our youth! Well done!!

As of now, we’ll be continuing with our in-person gatherings on Sundays at 9 & 11am. Thank you to everyone who attended last Sunday for being honoring of each other by maintaining appropriate physical distancing and respecting the guidelines we’ve put in place. Here are a few key reminders:

  • Our Dream Team will be wearing masks, and we highly recommend the same for everyone who attends. (Masks are available upon request.)
  • Our Café will remain closed this Sunday.
  • C Kids services and nurseries will not be available at this time. Children may sit with their parents in the Worship Center. Limited family seating will be available in the Chapel, with a live feed of the service.
  • If you feel unwell or have a temperature of over 100, please stay home and worship with us online. (For the safety of others, would you consider taking your temperature before you leave home?)

In light of the rising COVID-19 positive numbers here in SC, I ask that you continue taking precautions in your personal life, as well. If you are at higher risk for severe illness or aren’t yet comfortable with large gatherings, please continue to worship with us at home online at 11am. Your spiritual and physical health remain of the utmost importance to us!

I’ll see you Sunday – online or in-person!

Continuing to pray and listen,

Mike Lewis
