Note from Mike – Back in the Saddle

August 11, 2016

Dear Cathedral Family,

I am so excited about being with you this Sunday and getting “back in the saddle.” Dean and I have enjoyed taking in the services from the balcony and via livestream during these few weeks of study break, BUT we are ready to be with you again.

Cathedral truly is blessed to have such a strong team of speakers who can minister the Word and craft opportunities for us all to experience God’s presence in life-changing ways. Our prayer is that this summer has been refreshing for you!

I’m recharged, refueled and ready for our next run as a church family. With dramatic shifts in our country and culture away from biblical values, there are new realities that the Christian church in America must acknowledge, especially in this election year. While it seems that we have lost the culture war, I have a fresh sense that the church really is the hope of the world and Cathedral has an important role to play.

It’s time to regroup and reengage in society with new strategies. It is a chance for the Church to truly be the Church – not passive, judgmental or critical, but active, loving, kind and compassionate. A season for us to interact with our community and partner with God to transform lives, just like Jesus did so creatively and masterfully when He came over 2000 years ago. Are you ready, I am?

I also want to share with you that over the course of the study break, Jim Weathers communicated with me that he felt he needed to offer his resignation from Cathedral for personal reasons. After listening to Jim, I accepted his letter of resignation. We pray for God’s continued blessings on Jim and his family.

With all that being said, I look forward to seeing you during my first Sunday back as we reconnect as a church family and link arms for the journey ahead!

Doing life together,
