Hello Cathedral Family!

I HOPE YOU HAVE ENJOYED our recent STUCK series about navigating transitions in life as much as I have. At the end of the day, everything we’ve been talking about distills down to a life-long cooperation with the SPIRIT OF GOD who is always working in our lives for our benefit. Cooperating with God moves us from life happening TO us to life happening IN us. Sometimes it can be hard to tell where you are in the transition process, but cooperating with God ensures that, no matter where you are, you’re moving in the right direction!

THIS WEEK we have the honor and privilege of being visited by our dear friend and long-distance family member, Adrian deVisser! I can’t wait for you to hear what’s going on in Sri Lanka and other parts of the world where he and his family minister. God’s hand is truly on Adrian and his family, and we’re proud to support the Kingdom work that they’re involved in all around the world. Make sure you’re here Sunday!

On Sunday, October 14, we’re beginning a new series called, “FEAR IS A LIAR. Don’t let the title confuse you. I understand that fear is real to you and me. Actually, God designed us to experience a natural fear and to respond accordingly. Psychologists call this God-given response the “Fight-or-Flight” response. When you walk up on a snake, Fight-or-Flight will move you to safety – QUICKLY!

The FEAR AND ANXIETY we will be talking about are the ones that destroy the hopes and dreams that God has put in your heart. It is the fear and anxiety that is becoming more and more commonplace to all of us in today’s society. There is hardly a family that hasn’t experienced some kind of crippling fear and or panic attacks in its members.

JESUS SAID He would send us a Comforter, namely the Holy Spirit, to lead us into all truth. So, in this series, we will be looking for the truth as to why God says to us 366 times in Scripture, “Fear Not”. That’s one ‘Fear Not’ for every day and one for leap year…He must have truly known fear and anxiety would be an issue for the day in which we live. We know that God would never tell us to “Fear Not” if it were not possible. I cannot wait to see how many of us move from Fear to Faith and from Anxiety to Peace!

GOD BLESS YOU and I’ll see you Sunday!
