Hello Cathedral Family,
I hope that you are recovering well from Hurricane Matthew. I’ve been praying for your safety and well-being. Would you join me in praying for all of those still affected by the aftermath of Matthew?
It’s times like these that remind us of what’s really important in our life. Material possessions, while necessary, pale in comparison to the well-being of our friends and loved ones. It’s also during times like these that we see neighbors going above and beyond to reach out and help one another.
This week, we continue our series, Running with the Giants. Our giant this Sunday is a woman whose effort to go the second mile miraculously placed her in a lineage that reads like a “Who’s Who” of the Bible.
In Genesis chapter 24, Abraham sends his servant in search of a wife for his son, Isaac. Rebekah would be chosen, not for her looks or her family pedigree, but for her demonstration of going above and beyond what was asked of her. And that action changed her destiny!
Rebekah became the wife of Isaac, the grandmother of Joseph, the great, great, grandmother of Moses, the ancestor of King David and ultimately of Jesus! I’d encourage you to take a few minutes to read her story to help prepare you for Sunday’s message!
I wonder what miracle God has for you in your second mile?
See you Sunday!
