MIND BLOWN: Family Edition

October 16, 2020

Dear Cathedral Family,

I am so thankful to Dr. Schultz for investing four Sundays in our Mind Blown series. During that series, he said, “Without purpose, there is no hope, and without hope one dies or merely exists.” Then he asked the question, “What is the purpose of marriage or parenting?” In the next few weeks, that’s exactly what I would like to talk with you about in our extension to the Mind Blown series called, Mind Blown Family Edition.

The answer given by Dr. Schultz in his presentation was that God created everything for His glory. What would it look like if every family was receiving and reflecting the Glory of their creator? Another quote that was mentioned in one of his last two messages was from Jonathan Edwards who said, “God made the world that He might communicate and the creature (man) receive His glory, and that it might be received by both mind and heart…”

So here are my questions.

What would a married couple look like that has His glory on them?
What would a family look like that has His glory resting on them?
What would a home, married and single, look like that has His glory on it?

I believe it is entirely possible to have His glory in all of these areas of our life. I think there is nothing God would like to do more in these times of uncertainty than to teach us how to function with more of a sense of God’s hand and presence over our homes and families. The evidence of this is found in Colossians 1:19-20,

“For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.”

What Jesus did on the cross made it possible for you and I to have the peace of the fullness of God’s presence in our lives and on our homes.
I can’t wait to explore this with you!

I’ll see you Sunday! We’ll be worshipping together in-person at 9am and 11am and via Facebook live and Livestream at 11am.
