Note from Mike – Christmas Presence

December 14, 2017

“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”

Revelation 3:20

Read that slowly and let the words paint a picture.

I stand at the door and knock.
Though the door is shut, He takes the initiative to come and knock.

IF you hear my voice…
Finances, relationships, and responsibilities, they all clamor for our attention like noisy aluminum cans tied to our feet, and the more you move about, the noisier they become!

…and open the door…
To open or not to open? That is the question. I’m reminded of a song from the great ‘prophet’, aka songwriter, Pete Townshend.

Let my love open the door
It’s all I’m living for
Release yourself from misery
There’s only one thing gonna set you free
That’s my love

Let my love open the door
Let my love open the door
Let my love open the door
To your heart, to your heart

I will come in…
Can you imagine Jesus walking right into the middle of your noisy Christmas? He brings with Him a peace and a calm that go beyond anything you’ve ever experienced. He just comes right through the door, right into the middle of everything, and suddenly…

Silent night
Holy night
All is calm
All is bright…

…and we will share a meal together as friends.
Now the noise has faded, and the calm has come. You’re sitting at the table, you’re still…and you’re present. You’re resting at the table with your friend, Jesus.
