Dear Cathedral Family,
We’re being bombarded with non-stop news about coronavirus – notifications on our phones, breaking live news, email updates, the list goes on. Sometimes it just gets to be too much!
Perhaps today is a good day to change the input. Take a break from all the coronavirus news and get some Good News from the Ultimate Source – our good, good Father God, our Healer, our Provider, our Protector, our Sustainer.
Jesus told his disciples, “…It takes more than bread to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from God’s mouth.” (Matthew 4:4, The Message) If Jesus himself lived by infusions of God’s Word, I think we’d do well to follow His example.
So I encourage you to just press pause on all the media input for a little while and get some fresh insight from God’s Word. We are spirit beings, and the Bible a spirit book. The Word of God is alive and active. It will feed the deepest needs in our hearts and our souls.
If you need a place to start, try Psalms or Proverbs. Or read some of the stories of how Jesus interacted with people when he walked this Earth in one of the gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. I’m confident that you’ll be encouraged and strengthened for whatever challenges the day holds.
Thank you for continuing to BE the church by loving and caring for your family and encouraging those around you. I look forward to being with you for church online at 11 am this Sunday as we continue building our “Hope in the Midst of Crisis”. See you then!
Continuing to pray for you!
Mike Lewis
