The Word of God is Alive and Active!!! John 1:4 says, “In Him (Jesus) was life, and the life was the light of men.”

That’s great news! God’s Word gives us light AND life. We all need more life, energy, and purpose in our lives. And who doesn’t need more light, more understanding and insight into what is next for us? That’s what’s going to happen this week as we unpack some verses in the first chapter of the book of John that have pumped me up since my early days of walking with Christ. You may want to spend some time reading John chapter one before this weekend.

You see, every time we read the Bible, the words we read have the power to shape and mold us into God’s image. Artists who do sculpting say they can see their finished piece in the unfinished product. Then, they simply chip away what isn’t part of the finished piece. That’s what God’s Word does in us. When we read the Word and apply it to our lives, we become more and more who God intended us to be.

The Word of God is Our Story. You would never go to a movie an hour late because you would have no idea what was going on. Our lives can be the same way. The Bible tells us who we are, why we’re here, our mission, and our opposition. It makes sense of the world around us and puts things in perspective. It’s literally our owner’s manual for life.

This Sunday we’ll begin a new series, Passages that Pump Me Up. There are some key passages in the Bible that have always ministered to me personally, and I’d like to share them with you. These passages will encourage you, strengthen your faith, fill you with hope, and give you wise instruction for living. To get the most out of Sunday’s teaching, I encourage you to go ahead and jump into the book of John in the New Testament. That’s where we’ll begin this weekend.

Monday is Memorial Day. Part of our service this Sunday will be dedicated to honoring those who have fulfilled John 15:13, “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” So many men and women have paid the ultimate price so that you and I can enjoy the incredible freedoms of this great country. Our own Major Chris Stephanoff, US Army (retired) will lead us in honoring these great men and women.

I’ll see you Sunday!
