Our Memorial Day service was so moving this past Sunday. Once more I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Major Chris Stephanoff for leading us in honoring the great men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. I also want to say thank you to those who are serving and have served, and to all of their family members who also sacrifice so much so that we can enjoy the wonderful freedoms our country has to offer.

Last week we dipped our toes into our new series, Passages That Pump Me Up. I shared with you some of my earliest memories of seeing my grandfather lying in his porch swing on a hot summer day and having his Bible open in his lap. Respect for the Word of God was impressed upon me at a very young age, and that respect continues today. But I don’t just respect God’s word…I LOVE His Word!

From being an impressionable young boy, to an eager Bible student, new husband and inexperienced father, God’s word has given me wisdom, strength and courage to trust Him in every circumstance in my life. That’s why I’m so excited about this series because I know His Word will do the same for you!

This Sunday I’ll dive into another one of my favorite passages, Psalm 23! Psalm 23 opens with David declaring, “The Lord is my shepherd…” Jesus himself said, “I am the good shepherd…” Shepherds lead, guide, protect and give rest to that which belongs to them. I can’t wait to unpack the verses of this often-quoted passage and to share with you how I have found strength and comfort from these life-giving words of the living God!

I look forward to having Psalm 23 come alive for you in a new way as we read, study and sing (YES! VOC is in the house!) the words of this timeless passage.

I’ll see you Sunday!
