Dear Cathedral Family,

Cathedral, you did it again!

Thank you for doing what you do so well – making people feel welcome and at home!

Algernon Tennyson, our guest for Cathedral Academy’s Commencement Exercises and last Sunday’s services, was blown away by our Cathedral hospitality and your generous support of his outreach ministry. Due to the nature of the work of Awaken International Ministries fighting sex trafficking, you will not find him on social media. Please keep Al and his team in your prayers.

I’m so looking forward to our next two Sundays. We’re jumping back into our “I Want to Believe in God, but…” series, starting with addressing the question: Why does God allow pain and suffering? Then next week, we’ll focus on two questions: Who created God? & Why does God need worship?

Also, this Sunday, we’ll have a very special Memorial Day element that you don’t want to miss! I trust that you’ll leave the service with a greater sense of gratitude for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms that we enjoy.

We must never, ever take our freedom for granted. President Ronald Reagan’s words from 1961 still ring true today: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We did not pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

Let’s keep telling their stories. Our story. And let’s honor their sacrifice by living well. Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
